Ceramic Pulley Lagging Eliminates Slippage
Product application | Ceramic Pulley Lagging |
Width of belt | 650mm |
Industry | Coal -fired power plant |
Material | Bottom Ash |
Problem
- Rubber Pulley lagging service life is shorter and the diamond rubber lagging was not work well because the residue would not allow the rubber to grip the belt well. The belt was also mistracking because of the slippage of the belt on the pulley. Replacing the pulleys is a big job , which led to expensive downtime and increased the cost of operation.

Solution
- In the search for something better, the maintenance team came across the ceramic pulley laggings from JIMWAY.The moulded ceramic dimples grip the belt's underside, for positive traction and no slippage, ensuring the tile to receive strength evenly.
- Almost 90% tiles coverage features the highest coefficient of friction available in lagging materials – two to three times the friction of rubber
Round Ceramic fitting perfectly on the curved surface
Increasing friction between pulley and belt
Results
- Once the lagging was installed, both the slippage and mistracking issues were resolved. Another result that was unexpected from the site was the longevity of the lagging given the harsh Bottom Ash material being conveyed. The ceramic lagging service life is much longer than the rubber lagging in this application.

From customer
Since it was installed, the ceramic Pulley lagging have not seen wear or needed replacement. "We plans to put the lagging on the rest of the drive pulleys in the near future because of its perfect performance" stated from the operations manager.
