Problem
The material being transported is coke, which has a sulphuric content. The belt has become very rough due to the sticky material. It was so prevalent that the belt had even cut through the steel roller, causing the outer shell of the rollers to break after only about three months of use.
The edges of the damaged rollers are very sharp, and as the belt continues to operate, they cut the surface of the belt like a knife, causing the risk of the belt splitting.
Solution
- Frustrated with slippage and mistracking, the operations manager brought someone in to take a look at the problem. The JIMWAY technicians installed one Ceramic discs return roller from JIMWAY because of its exceptional performance in wet conditions and sticky,abrasive or corrosive material.
- The ceramic coating production process is combining ceramic plate and rubber through hot vulcanization, the ceramic plates with rubber firmly through vulcanization, and the ceramic coated roller has greatly raised friction coefficient and wear resistance and improved impact of conveying belt. This way is better than ceramic cold bonding method that may easy shedding.

Results
- After nine months, operators observed that, unlike the previous rollers, the new system offered consistent performance, while reducing costly maintenance time and premature component wear. The ceramic ring still remains firmly in place on the roller surface without peeling off
